When I make a psd file in Photoshop CS and save the file. The thumbnail appears as a black background in the windows expolorer.

And when I try to open the same psd file in Photoshop 6 it gives me an error saying - "Could not open...psd, because there is not enough memory (RAM)".

Please help!

Thanks in advance!

Your description of the thumbnail makes me suspect the file was corrupted when you saved it. Does it do this will all files created in Photoshop CS?

Rahul,

It seems like you have two problems here, I believe the file is not opening in PS6 because it was created in PS8 (CS), 6 is very old in software years, it came out in 2000.

As far as the thumbnail, make sure that you go into Preferences>File Handling
and have the Windows Thumbnail and "Icon" checked and you have "Image Previews" set to Always Save or Ask When Saving.

That should do it.

yup!
The problem lies because you have opened the psd made in a later version of PS in a prior version

Yes you are right (thinkdj)

I noticed what i was doing and came to the conclusion that; the files which i had created in Photoshop 6 and edited it in CS2 were the only psd's which were creating a problem.

As for the thumbnail part which I had asked help for i figured that there's a DLL file which is missing which does'nt shows the thumbnail.

Thanks for your feedback people :o)

Cheers,
Rahul
