Hey guys... I have a layer I created that is in the shape of a box. I want to add a whole lot of slashes.. ie. ////////////// inside the box. How can I go about doing this easily in Photoshop? I want them evenly spaced and to fill the entire inside of the box... just as if you were to type in backslashes repeatedly into a form element.

There has to be an easier way than to do each one by hand! Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi,

One way you can do this is to:

  • Create a new Transparent document say 15px wide x 20px high
  • Select your type tool (T)
  • Change the font to Arial, size 25px
  • Place a / slap bang in the middle of the document
  • Go to Edit and Define Pattern, call it slash or something

Now, go back to the box that you want to fill with the slashes (in your other document), double click on that layer in the Layers Palette to bring up your Layer Style window and select Pattern Overlay.

Click the drop down button where the pattern is and your Slash pattern will be the last one you see. Select it then press ok.

    This should work (hopefully)...

Post again if you get stuck ;)
