Hi I need to find a font that fits a medical site. The problem I am facing is that all the fonts I am finding dont seem to work.

I want a thick type of text that displays well at 14pt to 24pt.

Can someone help.

Thanks

When choosing fonts for the web you need to restrict yourself to fonts that are available on most users’ computer systems... do a quick search for web friendly fonts, and you should be well on your way.

Because your font choices are quite limited, you may need to use images as your headers. (For accessibility sake, check out CSS image replacement techniques)

Also, take a look into sIFR

hi yes this is an image I am using. So I can use any font.

The font will be saved in my image. And its the image I will be using as a header for my website.

thanks

hm, in that case, can you give any further details about why/how the fonts aren't working?

The fonts are working. I mean they dont work with what look I am tyring to achieve. ie they look the part for a corporate site.

I would just like to know what good block, clean fonts are around that I could use.

eg Microsoft,Mobil,Ebay style blocky corporate fonts.

Thanks

Are you willing to spend or are you wanting opensource fonts?

Helveica Neue was the one that sprang to mind - often used on hospital wayfinding.

Free fonts are OK - but are limited in their capabilities - they often house incomplete character sets with some unusual output on printed documents.

You won't find any free fonts like Helvetica Neue or Univers for example.

These can be located easily using a search engine. the International Type corporation is a good place to start, or one of the many online font shops.

expect to pay anywhere between £50/500 for a family of wieghts (light, medium, bold, strong, condensed + italics) and more if you want ligatures and small caps etc.
