Hi all. I run a graphic design / web design website and I need some feedback from fellow designers for an article I am writing. I will gladly link to your website from the article for the favor.

What are your favorite graphic design & web design books? What books could you not have lived without during your career? What books would you suggest for new designers?

Can you please also write why this is your favorite book and what makes this book so special?

Thank you for your time.
Rachel

Hi Rachel

Some of the book's/magazines that get the most use in our studio:

MAGAZINES
> Creative Review
> Eye Magazine

TYPE

> Typography Workbook : A Real-World Guide to Using Type in Graphic Design
> Thinking with Type
> The Elements of Typographic Style
> Stop Stealing Sheep & Find Out How Type Works

DESIGN
> Los Logos - Buro Destruct
> Device - Rian Hughes
> Book Design by Derek Birdsall
> The Graphic Language of Neville Brody: 1 & 2
> Anything featuring Carson

LAYOUT:
> Making and Breaking the Grid

WEBDESIGN:
> The ZEN of CSS Design: Visual Enlightenment for the Web
> Oreily Reference Books

IMAGE MANIPULATION
> The Photoshop CS Book for Digital Photographers

To be honest I couldn't pick one book. All have their uses and limitations... and like most design books all need to be taken with a pinch of salt. ;)
