i am using photoshop and cut around a person

now i want to place that on top of a colour background but it looks very fake like she is sitting on top of the background. i would like to morph it in so it look more natural any tips please

use a background image for the layer below the image that has a consistent size, then add a drop shadow to your cutout. You can adjust the shadow depth, angle and width and also feather it so it looks natural.

select the person you want to cut out--on the top menu choose SELECT-->FEATHER. choose a low number and click OK. Now cut and paste the person. This will get rid of the hard edge. Play around with the number you entered for various results.
