i have fireworks mx 2004 and i was wondering if you guys could help me out. how would i apply a transparency effect on an image? heres what i want to do

i have 2 images, one overlapping the other at the center point of the bottom image, i want to be able to put a fade effect to blend the images together to create a transitioning type feel as the image flows from one to the other...how do i do this?

On Fireworks MX (not sure about MX 2004) you can do it one of two ways:

1) use a vector mask. The details of doing this are in the help files. It involves adding a vector shape on top of the image and then combining the two with the vector image as the mask. It's worth you getting to grips with doing this as masks are a good skill to learn
2) look for a FW extension (free, if I recall) by Sandee Cohen and Joseph Lowery called Fade Image v.1, which will do all that for you automatically.

Once you have the images appropriately faded, import one onto the canvas of the other and play around with the settings.
