WAV files won't play

I have used the embed tag to play background music on our photo gallery. The MID files play fine, but the WAV files won't play.

I tried converting the WAV file to MP3 file, but the sound wasn't as good and the file was twice the size, and the embed control panel didn't show up when I used the MP3 file.

I tried using "Digital Ear" to convert the WAV to a MID file, but Digital ear only converts WAV files that are "uncompressed PCM, monophonic, sample rate 44100 Hz, 16-bits/sample".

The WAV file I have is "non-PCM, monophonic, sample rate 11025 Hz, 4-bite/sample. Any idea how to convert this type of WAV to a MID? Or any ideas why the WAV file won't play with the Embed tag?
