Photoshop on startup making requests to 192.168.1.25?

Why? What is the point? Why is Photoshop interest in my network?

Photoshop keeps bugging 192.168.1.25 (roommate's computer). Any particular reason why it is doing that? It is doing it via the ARP protocol. My network sniffer says under info, who has 192.168.1.25? Sometimes Photoshop (8) will just run and sometimes it sits there for a minute.

*EDIT - Oh it's our printer! :)

Anyone know how to tell Photoshop not to do that? I never print anything, especially with Photoshop!

Is there a way to tell Photoshop NOT to look for the printer in the first place? Or at least when it starts up?

Set the Port to FILE in the printer setup under Ports, for the default printer.

I added and set a different (though not hooked up) printer as default and I no longer have the problem. I was unable to change the printer to file, the options would not allow for it (though the expected visual queue for the options being disabled were not present?). Thank you.

Yes. I'm thinking you have to install Adobe's PS driver to have that option. Glad you got it working anyway.
