hi,

we have put some small 4 minute videos online for a client of ours. they are encoded using windows media encoder at a medium bandwidth setting.

while we were testing we obviously received errors sometimes - the problem is, once we have received an error for a certain filename, it is impossible to ever see it correctly again.

we have still never been able to view the original file name even after recoding and re-uploading, we had to rename it to view it properly...

so it must be some sort of browser caching issue - can anyone shed any light on this?

thanks

i found the answer, so here it is hoping it might help someone in the future:

i use mod_deflate to compress certain types of files before they are sent to the visitor, i forgot to add .wmv to the list of exclusions

doh! ;-)
