Hi

Does anyone know of good (preferably cheap)
sources for vector maps of London

I am in to a large project to build an interactive map of some of london and need some scalable source material

Quantum GIS is an open source mapping software that is quite flexible. The learning curve is almost verticle.

I was looking through the open source thing but they don't export to eps, ai, or pdf. It is a cool app anyway!

No experience with it, but Mapserver has gotten some decent reviews.

I am already on the vertical cliff face that is CSS, so no new vertical curves I think :-)

You might take a look at the CIA World Factbook.

They not only have maps, but detailed information on every country on the planet.

Their .pdf maps have some limited Vector editing capabilities.

The canonical reference for mapping information in Britain is Ordnance Survey [ordnancesurvey.co.uk].

I have no idea whether their prices would be acceptable to you or not, but it's probably worth making at least an initial enquiry to investigate what they can do for you.
