Corel 5 problems running under Windows XP

I have been using Corel 5 with Win 95 up until a few months ago when my system hardware failed. I am now using a fairly new Latitude running XP Pro (with all updates). I loaded all the basic Corel programs using my original diskettes (yes...diskettes), apparently with no problem. Draw seems to work OK but haven't really given it a workout. Paint, however, has some problems. The major one is that I only have access to the main options in the tool box, e.g., I can only select a rectangular mask, I cannot get to the circle, lasso, freehand, etc. options. It is as though I only have the very basic options loaded. I have not tried Move or the other modules. The other obvious problem is that in Paint the display shows up a lot of extra "stuff" when I e.g. do a cut and paste of a mask.

Can anyone out there help me?

Thanks!

You obviously know Draw5 is about 11 years old and that some issues of incompatibility may arise with the newer XP. Was there a patch or something as I remember, maybe a fix like a 5B version? Either way, sounds like a video card/driver problem that needs to be looked at.
