Does anyone have an idea of what an average bounce rate might be? Also, would it vary according to the type of website, ecommerce, informational etc.

We are getting 20% but we are are running a pop-under campaign that has artificialy inflated that by about 4x. Our pageviews/visitor has taken a hit too.
It really depends how they get to your site. On average type-in traffic will have the lowest bounce rate then natural referrers then organic then cpc then cpm then pop unders I would guess.
