I see some good images on the web....I mean clean, crisp images. For example, if you go to Amazon.com and then choose 'Sports and Outdoors' from the dropdown menu on the left hand side of the page, you'll see what I'm talking about. Choose 'Sports and Outdoors' and then click 'GO.' Look at the quality of images there. How do I get images like that for my website? Is this done by a regular 2 or 3 Megapixel digital camera or some funky software I'm not aware of. How do they get such detail where you can see the lettering and quality of the product like that?

I thought this question was answered pretty well the last time you asked it a couple of months ago...Getting sharp photos on a website [webmasterworld.com]

I recommend buying "The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers" as I have been using the advice it gives for all the photos taken on my website since I read it.

It was worth it for me for just the file browser and colour correction chapters. I'm not too sure about the retouching section though (I like to leave the photos unretouched.)

Thanks.

Im no expert with images or photogrophy but have spend a bit of time over the past months trying to improve.

The same main principal applies so digital images as it does to conventional cameras. If you want good quality crystal clear images then a lot of the work will be in the preperation. Think about lighting, background colors, range ect. Spend a fair amount of time taking several shots of the same item, at least some will produce a good enough result to work with.

The page you showed as a referance certanly does make good use of the images. What you will see is, a lot of those images use image cropping to crop right round the image and show no background or other items. This really makes an image stand out.

This effect is used to great effect. Another great example of images applied will is apple.com, stunning site IMO.

It all seams to come down to preperation when you shoot and time and attention to detail in your editing program.
