What's the best and/or easiest way to resize a document in Photoshop? I was able to resize it but when I saved it and then reopened it, the .jpg was still in the original size. To you Photoshop gurus out there, how exactly would you resize a .jpg image?

Hello, could you provide some further information about your particular case, in terms of what you're trying to achieve?
Some things to consider:
-Is it for print, or web?
-are you upscaling,or downscaling?
-what is the original dpi or ppi (dots per inch)(pixels per inch)

To resize your entire document (in your case, the single image) go to:
1. Image > image size
2. you will be given 2 sections: Pixel Dimensions, and Document Size

from here, it depends on what your intended usage of the image is.

you most likely will want to change the top options (pixel dimensions), which will change your on-screen size, relative to 72 dpi. (your screen's resolution).
If doing this, ensure that "Resample Image" and "Constrain Proportions" is selected.

thanks for responding Patrick. I intend to use it for an online banner ad. Any other suggestions? I'll try what you recommended.

I don't know about Photoshop, but with the GIMP you just click image/scale image, then you have a dialogue to do what you want with it. Have you tried searching the help in Photoshop for "scale image"?

It worked for me...thanks. I'm still concerned though about my Dreamweaver problem though. I created a table and the cursor is halfway down the table. I can't get it up!

try vertical align - top

<td valign="top">

(been a long time since I did a tables based layout, so my syntax may be a little off?)

It would be advisable to post such a topic in a different forum dealing with html.

A tip I read in a book some time back:

If you need to upscale a digital image yet retain it's quality

> open the image (use camera raw or non lossy format - e.g. TIF)
> open the image size dialogue box.
> set the image interpolation method to bicubic smoother
> and then resize it in 110% increments.

You can turn a postacard image to a poster, really you can! For some reason unbeknown to me the image will keep its sharpness much better this way than if you just blew it up to 200% from the original.

I have made an action with this and use F11 as a short cut to do it quickly. Great tool for photo resampling.

not sure if you solved your problem yet, but did you save it as a .psd and then re-open the original .jpg? (i.e. a different file)
