Does anyone know of a way to remove the bevel from one side of a vector object? I want three sides beveled but the other one not, so it can butt up against a flat surface. Cutting, punching, or otherwise altering the vector path also changes the bevel (i.e., the path is altered and the bevel reapplied to the new path). I've searched for info but havn't managed to find anything.

I'm using Fireworks MX 04, but I'm sure a method that works in any other vector environment will have it's FW equivalent so ANY input would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

ive never used fireworks, but is it possible to rasterize the object first, and then paint over or otherwise remove the bevel?

To make a tab?

I'd hack it: Place a rectangle filled the same as the background colour over the bevel you want to hide and then group the two objects.

~ I don't think you can split paths on an object that has an effect on it, AFAIK.

added: too fast ben ;)

That's what I was beginning to think. Thanks for the tips.

If you're working in Vector, could you not create the bevel manually only on three sides, and fill these with the appropriate gradient to complete the effect? Should be easy in illustrator.
