Folks what is an adequate file size for a movie about 3min 47sec with a bit rate of 157kbps 170x144.

It is 6.07MB right now.

This is a dial up stream and yes I know that there may not be a specific size but I wanted to make sure that my file size was at least around an adequate size.

Also what would be adequate size/bit rate for Cable/DSL?

Right now I am experimenting with this and would especially like the dimensions to be a bit larger withouh compromising the size too much.

Thanks
dave

It depends on the video. Talking heads, like on the news, are commonly used as an example of videos that don't need as much information to display at a good quality level. My videos are of motorcycle rides, with a lot of movement and color changes on the video which requires more info per frame to be stored. Mine are bigger than most other subjects for the same length and resolution. Check out my profile for the link to my site and the example videos, but here is some data to compare:

Video 1
Time: 4:34 ¦ Size: 26.6 MB ¦ Format: .avi (DivX - does not stream)

Video 2
Time: 4:37 ¦ Size: 83.5 MB ¦ Format: .wmv (does stream)

Both are of the same quality and resolution, the only real difference is the CoDec used. If you got a 4 minute video down to 6 megs, I would say good job.

Ok great I saved the info.

I cannot see your videos however. But I can hear the sounds. I am thinking that maybe SP2 is causing me problems with viewing videos.

I am trying to fix that at the moment.

Thanks a lot
