Adobe Type Manager and XP

Is it needed?

I have used ATM forever and when I upgraded to XP I just installed ATM out of habit. Everything works well but someone told me that it is unneccesary. XP does fine handling FontFolio's fonts. Now here are my questions:

Does XP have a font restriction? I used to be limited and needed to turn on/off fonts depending on the project.

Does XP handle multiple-master fonts like Fruitiger and Myriad?

ATM is not required in XP. All of my many installed Adobe PFM/PFB fonts work perfectly using the XP font installer. Make sure you don't have duplicate names between TTF and PFM fonts.
