1 - In 5 you could go to Edit -> Transform -> Numeric and rotate an image by a certain percent, but I can't see how to do this in 7? Did they get rid of this feature?
2 - In 7 the Layer -> Effects -> Outer Glow looks totally different to me than in 5. In 5 I can get a kind of fuzzy, fading out colors behind text, I can't figure out how to get the same look in 7. Sorry if that is not explained very well though, it's hard to put something like that into words.
I was pretty excited to have upgraded, but have found myself going back to 5 to be able to replicate things I did previously in 5.
Thanks for any help!
You can do outer glow, but it doesn't look the same and doesn't give you the same options to adjust it. In 5 you get opacity, Blur and intensity. With 7, you still get opacity, but I don't see blur or intensity. There are other options there, but I can't get any of them to do the same thing.
What I was doing in 5 was setting opacity to 75, blur to 50 and intensity to 175. It creates a kind of glowing behind the text that fades out. Everything I've tried in 7 more or less gives just a outline to the text. So I can't recreate the same look in additional graphics to match what I made before without going back to 5.
1) >Image>Rotate Canvas>Arbitrary
Under the heading of "cool tips," if you have an image that's slightly tilted -- say, something that someone scanned and didn't have it exactly straight on the scanner -- grab the measure tool, drag it along any "edge" in the image that should be exactly 0 or 90 degrees, and then do Image ->Rotate Canvas->Arbitrary.
The dialog will come up pre-populated with the exact numeric measurement to rotate it to the correct angle. Just hit OK and you've straightened your image automagically.
In PS7 Make sure the Window>Options is checked. Then make a selection (or Select All) and use Edit>Transform choosing either Scale, Rotate, Skew, Distort or Perspective and the familiar keyboard entries are available in the Options menu (The Options menu is usally at the top of your workspace).
