First post here!

I am confused about the process for sliceing up a image and placeing text links with simple rollovers.

Background information:
Ok, so I made a huge beautiful graphic in adobe photoshop, I have navigation area drawn out on the left hand side.

So I opened the image up in Fireworks to start adding my Text Links,I type out my links, convert to buttons and do the button editor with simple rollover features: change color, underline, font a little bigger. They show up as a light green.

Next up I slice up the huge image into chunks for faster download.Darkgreen over the light green shows up.. all appears to be going smooth.

I hit f-12 for a review and I keep getting a message that the slices overlap and when I test the nav it Doesnt work!

So I try this:
I do my slices next to the buttons not on top.. it works.. but I get these tiny pieces all over all different sizes..I know thats not going to be an effiecient download either.

What am I doing wrong?

Or just point me to some really good Fireworks links if you dont feel like typeing that much here.
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to WebmasterWorld 2slicesandabrew
I am not totally clear on what you are doing from your post, but I use Photoshop and Imageready to slice up images, and when I do I always use guides set by good math and positioning. This way you dictate the size each element, and therfore can fit them easily into your page layout. I then set all this in a table (or 2)that corresponds with the sizes of the slices.
Can you be more specific to as what your probelm is?
