multiple links in an animated gif

i have an animated gif, which animates, then pauses on a frame for 10seconds. I want users to be able to go to a certain page.

Then, after 10seconds, the image will fade out to be replaced by another image, pausing again for 10seconds. I want this link to take users to a different page to the previous one.

Is this at all posssible with an animated gif, or should i be doing it another way (how)?

The only way I know to do this is with Flash. I don't think it possible with an animated gif - at least not with my editor....

i did think about flash, but i can't use flash really for the website i'm currently working on, which is a pity :(

There may be some extremely complicated javascript that would let you do that. why not go to that forum and ask?
