Capturing video from DVD player to computer?

I have a videocard with a video in so I can hook my DVD player up to the card. Does anyone know how I can capture the video on the DVD to my computer through the videocard? I don't have a DVD drive on the computer so that won't work. I want to eventually import the demo of our band on this DVD into QT Pro and make a movie to play on our web site. I haven't a clue if this can be done and how to go about capturing it to the computer. Thanks for any guidance.

Using Windowx XP you should have "Windows Movie Maker" at Programs --> Accessories somewhere. I think this is ok for basic video capturing.

Thanks ThomasB! Worked perfect. Got the audio and video synched fine and it created a windows media player file of the demo video of our band. Now if I could just figure out how to convert it to a form that QTime could import. Think I'll look on CNET for freeware/shareware program.

Thanks again,
Kevin

if you want alot of information on this topic, check www.doom9.org

ulead videostudio is able to convert from and to alot of formats and you can grab a fully functioning demo from their site

just yesterday i used it to capture some material from vhs and convert it to a streaming wmv. unless you have a mac target audience this works fine

use the embed tag to stream it in your browser

Thanks stef25. I plan on making QuickTime movies of the video and perhaps RealVideo as well. I'm going to download a trial version of Ulead.
