ok i have 5 layers of text
i want to rotate them in a circluler pattern
now
i want to rotate them around the same point but different directions
so this is what i did
i brought the first text in
dragged the point of rotate
and copied the text to the following frames on the same layer rotating each frame
but i have 4 more layers of text that i want to rotate around the same point as the first layer
i tried to do onion skin to see if i could see the point but u cant
and i tried using the reverse frames option but i want it to play at the same time on the timline reversing the layer plays it before the other animation
anyone got any ideas on how to get the same rotating point for different layers?

actually i was using flash mx
i had the text already made
i just brought it in to flash and tried it that way
i do have fireworks mx and freehand mx as well
are u suggesting doing that animation in fireworks then bringing it into flash mx?
what is the procedure for using the same point
for rotation in fireworks?
also this isnt text that was generated in flash mx or fireworks, i made the test in photoshop 7 and brought it in as a gif. bought i would think that that wouldnt matter.

not much good at fireworks but if you have photoshop then i may be able to help a lot quicker creating an animated gif
fireworks would do the same job but probably slightly different instructions

i take it the text is on a curve like a circle

yes the text is going to follow a circular pattern
yes i created it in photoshop
layer one works fine
but when i bring in layer 2 i want to rotate it around the same point as i did in layer one but in a different direction and using the same rotating point
but in flash mx i cant see the point i used for layer 1
when im in layer 2

right - photoshop
five layers of circular text - all overlapping
file > jump to > imageready

Select your layer
Click new frame in the animation
CTRL-T transform
rotate it round a bit

select your other layer
rotate it round a bit

new frame of animation
etc

should work fine (might take half an hour max though)

From your first post I guessed that you were using macromedia but did not know you wanted to create an animation. I would continue to use Flash - the file size created of a flash movie compared to complicated anigifs is much lower.

In either Fireworks of Flash You can create symbols for each action(text circling an axis) then position each symbol absolutely using the info panel and specifying the X and Y co-ordinates. Then, if I read your post right, you can acheive a fluid movement of text round your axis so they do not cross oneanother or 'wobble'.

that sounds much better than doing an animated gif if you know how i am still learning macromedia, but if you are good in photoshop and the animation doesn't have many colours then an animated gif might still do the trick

yeah i was getting a wobble for sure
so i can make a gif into a symbol?
intresting
can i also use a gif in a tween?

i think you need to make the registration point the same relative position for all things you intend to rotate
