Problems with Image Size

Hi. I'm trying to save and upload images onto my website, but there's one problem that I've run into in the past and am now running into again. Has anyone else here ever had the problem where you open a jpeg image in Internet Explorer, and for under a split second it's absolutely HUGE (as in 2000 pixels in height, for example), and then it shrinks down to a manageable size? Then, however, once you save it and upload it, the image you get is the huge one, not the manageably sized image in turned into in IE? Do any of you know if there is a way to save the image so it comes out manageably sized when uploaded to a website, or is that something that's simply beyond control? Thanks in advance.

The managable size is caused by a built in feature in IE. It doesn't literally resize the file, it just shrinks it on screen. If you hover over the bottom right of the picture you will see an icon come up that will revert it back to the large size. What you need to do is open a graphics program and resize the picture.

If you want to change that image resizing preference in IE, go to...

Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Multimedia > Uncheck Enable Automatic Image Resizing

Korkus2000, what kind of graphics program would be required for such a job? (excuse me if that's something I should already know, but I just don't have a lot of experience working with graphics.) Thanks.

Limbo, you had mentioned Irfanview in your response in that other thread. I've heard that mentioned before. What do you know about this program? Is it powerful enough to resize images and also to crop them? Does it allow the user to change image backgrounds (as in if I want to take out the background to an image and just leave the actual product)? Thanks.

jsglobal any graphics program will let you resize and crop. I believe you can do all this in paint if you want.
