Forum Moderators: not2easy
My profession has taken a tremendous hit from hobbyist with PC's and design software posing as designers, when in fact they're hacks making a fast buck from people unfamilar with design, or dealing with designers.
I own a hammer but I don't call myself a carpenter. These days, you have to be careful what you're getting isn't a piece of clip art with your business name and a copyright lawsuit attached to it.
Post your questions here and I'll keep in touch. If you want results, talk to a professional.
If you're fishing for commercial gigs, you should post in the Commercial Exchange [webmasterworld.com].
Otherwise, just start answering questions and people can judge your skills based on your responses without the 'advertisement', as it were.
That said, the post wasn't so much about unprofessionals in the field, as it was about how we should all post our questions to him, The Professional Designer, and he would "be in touch". This forum *is* the means by which to help others, so such a post really isn't necessary...
It's like a doctor walking into the ER and announcing he's an expert at treating a particular type of wound/injury, then walking out without assisting in the treatment of a patient right in front of him who has that exact injury.
I look forward to the insights and answers Philip offers to those seeking assistance. After all, isn't that one of the true marks of a professional -- a comfort level with one's knowledge that permits the person to educate, not just execute (tasks/projects/business deals)?
There are many thousands of posts on WW every day, so there's no lack of opportunity to share (and learn) here.
By saying you are 'professional':
1. You think the others aren't so you wanna help them.
2. After giving help, you will attract clients from the forum which prohibits advertising/promoting.
There isn't really any need for all that, if people need help - they ask - no need to ask "how can I help?".
