Hi all,
I know this is slightly off topic. One of my web clients asked me to prepare an image to be used in a powerpoint presentation. They didn't have much info to go on but I gather in some cases it will be projected. Is there a certain resolution i need to use? I've never worked with this stuff before.

The resolution of PowerPoint standard fonts is terrible to begin with... :)

If you optimize for web, it will look fine compared to built in PP fonts for text...

I made the whole thing jpeg at 72 pixels/inch. So that would work fine?

I guess what I am wanting to know is whether i need enough pixels for whatever size the projector will blow it into. I would assume the projector turns it from digital to analog, but i'm not sure.

I've used PowerPoint loads, and never even thought about image resolution; having used images of all shapes and sizes.

If something has looked OK on the monitor (bog standard 17") it has always looked fine when projected, even on some pretty old projectors onto big screens. I wouldn't worry too much.

For projection, I would stick with 72-dpi. If you plan on passing out the presentation for participants to follow and make notes, you may want to consider using 300-dpi for laser print quality. Also take into consideration the laptop. You will need to ensure the laptop does not lag when loading the higher quality graphics.

Thanks everyone! I'll keep it at 72 ppi and make a new one for print.
