Hi all,

I know this isn't strictly about Graphics and Multimedia Design, but I am curious about these CD ROM business cards.

I got one from a company and it didn't work in either of my CD ROM drives, however, it works in my friend's, Dad's and works computers.

I wondered if anyone had had any problems with them and their compatibility with CD ROM drives.

The reason I ask is that if I were to get some made up, could I guarantee they would work in everyone's computer. It wouldn't look too professional if they didn't.

Cheers

WE used to get printed blanks and then burn our own things on them... used them for everything, like transfering files to printers or clients. Looks good and is effective.

They're standard CD-Rs and work like them. Sound like whoever pressed or burned yours screwed up.

Hi Brownie,
Welcome to Webmaster World,

We've looked into getting these made for our company. A printing company supplied some samples. Some production runs and some custom short run. Apparently they burn them differently.

The short runs had that problem, but their full production samples worked fine.

When we advised them, they said it was impossible the short run didn't work.

A batch of 10 or 12 just came back from a trade show for our industry and they all worked.

Test carefully,

I've burned about 300 for one of my clients using a cheap LG burner and haven't heard of a single complaint.

BTW in case you are interested I made a catalogue with Flash and exported it as a projector file. Put it on a cd with an "autorun.inf" file and all people have to do is pop it in their cdrom player and it begins to play by it self. My client's clients absolutely love the thing.

Thanks, I am reassured enough to get some now.
