Hi,

I am currently building my first directory and wanted to hear aobut your advices and experiences.

The directory is 'smallish' (forecast no more that 2000 entries), very specific (geo targetted) and will offer 3 types of possible entries: free, very small fee (less than £20/years) and medium fee (less than £100/year). Each type of entry has appropriate services which justify the difference in fee.

Ranking should be good in SE because of the geo keywords. Hopefully will get nice PR due to pages number and content.

What are your experiences with geo targetted PFI directories? How do you approach potential customers to get them registered and go for the paid inclusion? Any pitfall that you're aware of?

Not sure if these will answer your specific questions but here are a couple of really good WW threads on directories:

Building your own directory [webmasterworld.com]

Running an online directory [webmasterworld.com]

Both have very solid info from folks who have been there, done that.
