I'm starting up a web design/development business which I will be running in my spare time for now (I'm not ready to quit my day job... yet).
To keep my costs down, I would like to do as much of the development by myself and then outsource as needed. I already have a graphic designer and copywriter/editor that I can turn to if I'm too swamped, but I would like to find a good source of back-end programmers (perl, php, j2ee, java, etc.) that are reliable and would be willing to take on little projects from time to time. Does anyone know where I can turn to for this?
Welcome to webmasterworld, hope your venture is very profitable.
You may want to post in the commercial exchange forum, lots of true talent lurking round here, and I think you will be surprised at the number of potential contacts you could make, especially if you explain in more detail what/who you are looking for.
A lot of the Eastern European and Indian developers are members and can usually deliver the goods at a very reasonable cost.
best of luck.
