How can one generate revenue nowdays from Web advertisement?

Does anyone know if one can generate revenue from advertizement through banner ads? What are some of the criteria to get revenue through banner ads? Anyone know what are good places to hunt for people who want advertizing?

I run a website with around 50 pages of information for students. I get around 150K-200K page views a month. Can these page views be converted into revenue somehow through advertizing? I know that model existed in the late 90's. Not sure anymore.
