I have been wondering about the merits and needs of a disclaimer of some sort or another and how protected you are in the event of it coming on top.
For example say in real estate sales where you, the website owner allows subscribers to put houses for sale on your site that third parties view and buy. You are in fact a broker or middleman but not directly involved in the sale. What happens if there is in dodgy dealing and someone who bought a property as a result of an advert on your site and things went pear shaped. I know that it is unlikely to be as simple as that but to what extent does a disclaimer stand up.
I am aware that there will be country specific laws that govern how far things can go. This issue would be pertinent to a great many businesses online, so what are the considerations.
Cheers
