Does anyone know of any third party software, or a setup in outlook itself, that will spit out a big pop up window when outlook receives a new message? I have an idiot manager too lazy to check his mail, so I have to find some sort of setting or program what will loudly and visibly announce that he has a new message.
Thanks in advanced.
(BTW, i do not use outlook myself)
You can also go to Tool>Options>Preferences>E-Mail Options and tell it to put up an alert message when new messages arrive.
Those directions are for Outlook 2000 - I presume other recent versions are similar.
<added>Do note that step one will only provide an audible alert; Step 2 will provide a visual pop-up; neither will matter if A) Outlook is not set to check for mail or B) your boss does not bother to open Outlook.</added>
<more added>Under Tool>Options>Preferences>E-Mail Options>Advanced Options "Sound an Alert" must be checked to get he audible alert - but that should be on by default.</more added>
I don't know of any freeware tools that have popup notifiers, but you can check Slipstick.com under Utilities > Productivity > Notification
Do a search for "outlook express" and you should see one shareware program for Outlook Express.
Using MS XP (may be different for other Windows versions, can't remember back a year :); Control Panel - Taskbar & Start Menu - Taskbar & Start Menu Properties - Customize, then select the icons you want. Should find the envelope you're looking for. Not gonna hit him over the head, but it suffices...hey whadya know, mine has just come up!
