I have been optimizing sites for goole for over a year, everyone I done I got in the top 10 :)

Recently Google dropped all 40 of my sites which I beleive is because I linked them all together, as you can imagine this was my income 100%. 90% of my traffic came from Google!

It's so easy to get a false sense of sercurity and trudge along only to lose the lot, I am not going to give up and have just started subitting new domains, I just think that people should be very carfull

You might want to read this. A lot of useful stuff about eggs, baskets etc.

Be really careful, and i hope everyone here in one way or another has learned from each others mistakes and experiences. Ive noticed when you like domains and they dont have PR higher than 2-3 for all of them they tend to get dropped. Linking PR sites higher than 5 I have had no problems with, but then again they are related in their own ways so nothing is linked out of context or subject from the site with the link on it.

I agree with Starec and the eggs and baskets thing. As a rule of thumb no webmaster should become to reliant on any one search engine for traffic the same as any business should not become too reliant on any one customer. If something happens to that search engine or that customer then you are in trouble. I think that both businesses and websites need to spread out roots if they are to be successful and need to become part of the landscape.

Sorry to hear about being wiped out, pob123, I'm afraid it's little consolation, but it comes with the territory. Flash back to October, 1999 when AV was the absolute king of SEs and they decided to do a major overhaul of the algo, resulting in Black Monday [webmasterworld.com]. We build on quicksand in this industry.
