A few shopping sites make 200k to 1m a year. They are mainly a 1 man shop. So $1M/labour.
A mobile review site ran by a college student in FL, making $50K/person a year.
That is about what I know. I mainly got those news from news, when some reportors wrote something. Other than that.
I hope to find a method to find top small team sites on how much they make. I will never want to build another google or amazon, but $1M/year is nice.
Anyhow, how about those guys that made that news site with thier own custom spider. I think they sold out for big bucks. I dont think were allowed to be to specific here.
very few people escape this IMO.

I'm not so sure about that!
A couple of high profile examples:
Bill Gates lives in a house that is worth less that 0.1% of his net worth.
Warren Buffet's primary home is very modest at $700K, probably worth a lot less, and smaller, than many of those reading this message!
I watched Sir Paul MCCartney on Larry King tonight, he wants to save the seals in Canada, well he could just buy them all, and all the fishermen, and not even notice the cost given his income?
There comes a time when money doesn't matter, principals do! Sometimes you can fix problems by "buying people off", but, sometimes you simply want to achieve the goal without having to resort to the financial basics.
In my company everyone is a millionaire, but, they also all complain about the price of gasoline......good well gounded people IMHO!

If he bought the seals then he would have to feed them. THAT is the expensive part. Maybe he could just buy Canada and make the seals Canadian citizens, thus killing them would be murder. Problem solved.
