I have an online services-based business and have been using PayPal as my one and only method of online payment. However I now have a very important client from the UK who can no longer pay via PayPal because they cannot get verified with PP (it's against their corporate policy to give out the credit card or bank account # to paypal which is necessary for verification). So my client has suggested that I set up a merchant account to accept credit cards (separate from the PayPal interface). This is a pain for me because no other client has had this problem, but I've started looking into this. And I'm lost in a maze of information and competition.
I can't figure out the diff. between shopping carts and merchant accounts. I also don't want to pay much, if anything. I've had one quote for $99 setup fee and $50 per month, plus whatever they take for each treansaction. This isn't worth it, for just one client. Are there any free, or really cheap services out there? Can someone please help me figure my way thru all this confusing info? PayPal is so simple by comparrison. Thanks!
