Sites that only can exist because of affiliate ads

why should sites with affiliate links be baned or filtered.

Many on this forum has talked about some search engines banning or filtering sites with affiliate links, I personaly think thats not true, many sites relay on affiliate income for the site to keep offering free information/pictures/service or what ever and the search engines also know that.

Of cause there are some sites that is a pure affiliate site, thats not ok, but as said many offer a service for free or offer pictures and those are dependent on affiliate income for bandwidth, hosting, updates, work time...

A example today I had to buy more bandwidth now 3000GB, that cost money

I have both part affiliate and pure affiliate sites and both are ranking well within there field so I don't see this as an issue

tigger - its not a issue, but I just dont think google or other would ban any site with affiliate links, as many thinks, also many pure affiliate sites are better then the original, site I dont like is scrapers, where they have not put any time in to it.

Depends on the merchant and how you are using them, for example one of my content sites I was using a datafeed from a particluar merchant for years and was doing very well, top 10 for almost all brands and categories. Over the last year everyone seems to have jumped on this merchants bandwagon. Now my sales have almost dried up completely and these pages are mostly in the "repeat the search with the omitted results included." All my content still ranks very well.

I can give you a tip there, if you want to get rid of the omitted results, write a different meta description and change the op body text a little that way all pages will be listed.

Thanks zeus, I did change the text slightly three months ago but it hasn't been picked up yet.

meta description is important in that matter. I changed it 70%
