Hello

I have a paid membership content website with 30 members. I want to make the content available for free. I belive I can make more by advertisements and affiliate marketing with the traffic. How to go about it. one fine day if I annouce that the site is free , wont the paid members feel cheated?

Please help.

How long is the membership period? Lifetime, monthly, annually?

I think that if you refund the users pro-rata for their membership period that has already elapsed, they'd be happy.

Also, it'd probably be a good idea to explain to them that you can't support the site on the current income and, rather than simply increase their membership fees, you're going to try support the site with some advertising. That way, they know why you're changing the site income structure and won't be horribly surprised when ads all of a sudden pop up on the site.

If you're really serious about the jump I would suggest to go for few analysis like usability of your web site analysis, SE analysis and evaluate things for making a final decision. You should also think that it might possible that as soon as you announce its a free site, probably the existing members will start asking you refund.
