I purchased a couple of expired domains a year or so ago. Looking via the wayback site, the domains had quite a bit of usefull content. The copyright notice was (c) domain name. So do I now own the copyright to the content?
The copyright notice is just that, a notice. It has no legal consequences. In particular, it can't replace the explicit written statement that would be necessary to transfer copyrights.

When you buy a expired domain you become its owner then no question of its copyright arise.
