Hi there,

Im currently in the process of tender for a website project, a major site
similar engine to a dating website, with registration and communication
modules, and also a content/knowledge/faq library that will be browsable
by all registered users and allow for submissions by super users.

My problem lies, is the client being rather corporate has requested a full
spec'd functional specification. Now never having done a functional
specification for a website, i have no real idea what needs to go into it,
and how to structure it.

Does anybody have any pointers? Or example specifications that they could
pass on that i could base my work on, even stuff like headers...generally
anything will help at the moment.

Thanks in advance!

A functional specification should describe the site from the user's perspective - interaction, screens, menus, with user scenarios, flow, etc. Sorry that's a little vague, but a search on "functional specification" will turn up some examples :).
