Web Hosting Growing Pains

How closely do hosting companies track bandwidth?

My site has grown to approximately 3+ million visiors a month and 300GB/month in transfers. I am only suppoed to be using 40GB in transfers a month. The hosting company doesn't seem concerned. I'm paying about $50/month

Is this typical?
If I move to a different hosting company should I expect the same?

No, I don't think you should expect this from most hosting companies.

300 gB/month and the host hasn't noticed? That's very odd. You can expect to be billed perhaps an extra $500 a month for the extra transfer.

I'd consider a new host before the invoice arrives!
