We are hosting many sites for a variety of cusotmers. Invariably one will ask me what is the appropriate pricing for banner ads on their site.

I understand that pricing is dependent on site content/market and traffic volume. But I'm not interested in becoming an expert in the customers business.

Is there a site or some other reference that I can point them to so that they can do their own research?

You could refer them to FastClick, which are a serious advertising agency selling banner ads among others. From there they will be able to get a feel for the prices companies are paying for banner adverts both in terms of CPM and CPC.
