Web hosting domicile / Taxation / Offshore

Your company is offshore, your web host is not. The consequence: taxation!

Hello @ all:

I am going to found an e-business company and I would like to incorporate it offshore. It will be an IBC (International Business Corporation) formation located in Panama.

Panama is regarded as the best tax haven of the world. There is no local tax liability in Panama when your company profits or earnings are derived from sales and activities outside of Panama.

As an entrepreneur you have to look ahead. It is not sufficient to think just because your company is located in a tax haven like Panama and your earnings are derived from abroad, your company will never ever have to pay taxes to foreign countries.

When you establish an e-business, the web hosting domicile could become very important in the future.

There are grumblings among many governments at the moment to try and access taxation based on where the site is hosted (to try and collect tax revenue in the case of mail order or on-line businesses).

The most practical idea would be to host inside a free trade zone and thus the tax issue becomes a mute point (or host outside of Panama if you feel more comfortable in doing so).

Which offshore web hosts do you know, which one would you recommend? The web host must be as reliable as the big ones which are not offshore.

A few hosts that appear to be "USA" are hosted offshore. Some of my sites' IP addresses resolve to Bulgaria, but my contract is with a US-based entity. Makes me wonder whether which country would be considered its domicile.
