Hi,

This is my 1st post here. I am not sure if I am posting at right place. Moderators, please remove my post if it is not the right place.

I am standing at a crucial juncture of my life. Till this month I was working with a busy SEO firm as a senior content developer. But I have to quit my paying job and have to shift my base somewhere else that is a small town. Now I need to start my own banner, business and website as a SEO content writer.

These are the areas where I need some help:

Portfolio Problem : My present firm gets clients from another SEO firm who outsource their content and link building. As a contract, I can not disclose the name of the websites while creating my portfolio. Would I get a client without a portfolio? Would it be wise to give FREE service to 2/3 websites for the sake of creating a portfolio? Please help.

Price: I was getting a good salary till date. Now if I have to make my own chart what is the best way to do that? Per word / per page? I do not want to be too cheap. What is a reasonable rate you think?

Invoice help required : Upfront or not etc...

I am looking for some advice.
Thank you for your time.

Eldorado,

Have you thought of teleworking for your previous employer? Or at least ask them if they wouldn't mind subcontracting work to you if needs be.

You will find that if they are happy with the work you've done for them they might be more than willing to 'hire' you instead of going through the whole recruitment/training process with somebody else.

Good luck
