Industry Statistics?

Where can I find good data about our industry?

I have been searching for good data on the state of the web development indusrty - but I am coming up with nothing.

I am looking for info like:

How many web designers/developers are there out there?

How many freelancers are there?

What is the average project size?

Things of that nature. I am surprised by the total lack of reporting on this subject. If anyone has any info, please sticky me some URLs, becasue I'm stumped!

Do a search in Google for "Nielsen Netratings" (loos the quotes), they have some different statistics that are useful
