We're considering starting an affiliate program to drive traffic to our site. When signing up for Amazon affiliates I noticed it asked for SSN or Tax ID for US affiliates. What information would we need to collect from overseas affiliates?

We're located in Canada, and want to open up the program to website operators in any country.

Oh and, is 20% a decent payout rate? Our widgets sell for $30, so that would be $6 per sale

I believe CJ or Shareasale will take care of taxes for you.

A 2% or or a 95% payout rate could be superior (or inferior) to that rate.

Everything depends on how much you pay in terms of earnings per click for the affiliate, assuming their traffic is appropiate for your website.

I should've disambiguated... I'm referring to if we run the affiliate program ourselves, not through a third part. I'll be posting a separate thread on which affiliate processors are the best given a limited budget (CJ is out of our range at the moment)

shareasale.com looks pretty good, however I have yet to specifically use them.
