If I were in the market to purchase a web site, where would I look? What would I do? What should I look out for? What "web site for sale" sites are worth my time?

I currently have a portfolio of mostly affilate type sites which I consider successful, and wonder if purchasing an established site or sites may be a good way to grow beyond my current rate.

Sedo.com should help you get started, but do a search for it and you should find more.

Why buy a web site somebody else have designed. Why not create your own vision, develop your own idea, and make your own plan. Then find a good name, by a web hotel and have somebody code it for you.

I think buying something others have made is a bad idea. You don’t know the structure of the site, you don’t know what philosophy is behind the site, you don’t know the vision and have had no control over the business decisions taken. Bad way to go about it, if you ask me (and you have)

No substitute for god solid thinking and planning. Always remember the seven P’s of the British Army. “Perfect Planning and preparation, Prevents Piss Poor Performance”. If you had no control over what has gone in to the project ……

I am building (and coding) my own sites as well, but from a business perspective looking to accelerate growth.

Thanks for the site suggestions.
