planning to start my company on SEO ... advice needed

I have been reading Webmaster world for more than a year .
Right now i m planning to start my company on SEO.

I would like to know how many projects(monthly) do you ppl get on an average so that I can get an idea how good is this field as a career?

And also, how do you try to get projects?

Set an hourly rate, work until you don't have enough time to complete all your client's work, and then start raising prices :)
