Coders/builders vs. Sales/Marketers

How to find each other?

Okay, I'm actually not sure if this should go into Foo, or somewhere else, so mods, please help me out, move it, and give me a whack if necessary. :-)

There are some people who are really good at coming up with ideas for products, building the products, AND selling/marketing the products. On the other hand, there are people who can come up with product ideas, code, and develop them but can't sell and others who can sell or market anything, but have no products.

I was thinking: maybe there should be a site where software developers and coders could meet up with people who want to sell or market their stuff, and everyone could benefit. The sales/marketing people get a cut, the developer gets a cut: win/win.

Is there anything out there right now on the web, and do you coders and/or marketers think there's any demand for something like this or if it would even work? I got the idea because I know several people who come up with really great software (especially for websites) but they haven't a clue (nor the inclination) on how to market it. It's like all these really cool web applications (and other software) are just sitting there because someone wrote it for fun but doesn't know how to sell it.

How does a coder meet a marketer? Or vice versa?

It always helps to have friends. Especially when you do one and he does the other.

When it comes to something like splitting a business you probably want to go through the network of people you know instead of partnering up with someone you have never met before.
