So you're a webmaster owning your own company. What do you put as your job title on a business card?

I want it to be techinical yet also express the fact that I own the company and call the shots.

Some options:
Web Developer/Webmaster etc: This makes it sound like I'm a low level worker who takes direction from someone else

Business Analyst:? Expresses that I deal with clients but doesnt say anything about technical skills ...

What do you all think?

I don't have any business cards...never seen a need for 'em
The need for a card is for when you're not online. If you meet a potential client offline a card allows you to give your info in a format of your own choosing, on something less likely to be lost than an odd scrap of paper.

Since it's just you, I'd have the business name, your name, and "Owner". Then, as I believe someone else suggested, all your contact info on the front, and some bullets of main services on the back. Otherwise, go with "Jack of All Trades, Master of Web" :-)

I feel similar pain, mate. I quite like "Content Monkey" but will go with "Writer & Editor" in a pinch. Currently I'm getting into a new job, and we're trying to figure out my title - the roles are a cross of marketing support and website maintenance. Oy. Consider this content monkey virtually stumped.

if you have people working under you full time:
president

if it is just you:
sole proprietor

i think the president title is overused, and may look unprofessional when refering to a company of one. that said, there is nothing wrong with having no title at all--it suggests confidence.

I wanted a map from a government agency, and I new it was not for common distribution. By my signature I added the title DCF, and got the map with a nice letter. DCF could mean several things.

I'll say... define:dcf [google.com]

I think my new title is "Door Closing Force". ;)

To me that's absolutely the most professioal approach. But I do think things are different in different countries. This approach may not work in the US, whereas it definitely will in Europe.

Remember, in Europe, "President" is a very US thing and looks silly to most Europeans. "Vice-President" to a European could mean "cleaner" as we all know that everybody in the US is a vice-president.... ;-)
