Hi, I’m from Colombia. Internet bz is growing here but I have seen a problem with small companies: they don’t believe on internet, the cause: Those people (company ceos), have never used a pc, and of course internet either.

So, how to sell a webpage to a ceo that doesn’t know a bit about internet?

Maybe some of yours have know difficult clients. Can you tell us your experiences? Or just an opinion about internet-webmaster bz in new-growing countries/companies.

Thanks, and sorry for my english

In my experience...go for those clients that want a web site, then you only have to sell them your service over some other company's service. Otherwise you are not only trying to sell yourself, but the internet as well.

For the CEO that you can get interested at all, you might try creating a basic 1 or 2 page demo site for his business. Take your laptop and show it to him. Tell him how it will benefit his business and sign him up.

luck,

I have often found that a better source of business than companies that want a website are companies that already HAVE a website.

Just because a company HAS an existing website doesn't mean that it isn't outdated or in need of a facelift. Technology has changed incredibly in the last 2-3 years so I'm sure there is something new you can offer anyone that had a site made within the last 3+ years.

These companies have already been convinced of the need of having a website and in most cases the content is already there (#1 website delay - waiting on client content).

This never fails.
Go to their office. Ask permission to use their personal computer (the CEO's desk) for 5 minutes.

Download net2phone, log on to your personal account (already charged with money). Plug in your headphones and make a call to the US.

Then, tell them it was only 2 cents per minute.

Show them what they are missing out on - show them successfull online competitors.

Then they will need a website, rather than just want one :)

Don't talk about the Internet. Talk about what s/he understands: the bottom line. Can you save them money, bring in customers or improve their company image? Spare them the details. Make it easy.

Excellant point. The impactful point you can make is how having a website can either increase income/sales and/or decrease expenses. If you can demonstrate that, the Internet will sell itself.
