Network Solutions fees

Renewal prices negotiable

Network Solutions just offered to renew any of my domains for $15. I had called them to ask whether NSI charges a fee for transferring domains away (they do not). The agent immediately offered a $15 renewal in place of the usual $35.

I had just gotten one of NSI's "deactivation notice" e-mails for a domain that's still 2 weeks from expiration. That prompted me to transfer that domain and 3 others to Dotster for $8.95.

It seems the least cost route is to get all domains off of NSI and be done with them. But if you're stuck for some reason on NSI, be sure to ask them for a lower renewal fee.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, DDSeattle.

That $15 offer is also sent out in the email that NetSol has to send to a domain owner transferring a domain elsewhere. The email requires the domain owner to authorize the transfer, but they also use it for this one final sales pitch.

As far as I'm concerned, they should pay us to keep domains with them. :)

I would transfer everything out of there as soon as it comes up for renewal if not sooner regardless of the price offered. You can get .com registrations for $7.95 these days with bigger discounts for registering for multiple years and w/o any of the annoyances many of us have been subjected to.

NetSol gave me the same routine a week or so ago. They can completely negotitate because their base price is so high. They are also doing free transfers with free year extension for anyone now, I can't find any catches as you could transfer away a year later.

I will never trust netsol with my money again. They completely lost my trust. I prefer Godaddy for domains. Easy to use, great customer service and great prices.

I would rather poke hot irons in my eyes than register/renew a domain name with netsol at any price. If they offered me 10 years free I would turn them down and pay a decent registrar the going rate instead.

I still remember the 4 hour telephone conversations with their so called customer service people a few years back....never again. That bridge has been burned, it will never be rebuilt!
